Paris confers His Holiness the Dalai Lama Honourary Citizenship

(Tibet.net) Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe, honoured His Holiness the Dalai Lama with the certificate of honorary citizenship despite strong criticism from Beijing.
The ceremony took place in Paris gilded City Hall on Sunday. Paris city council voted last year to give the Dalai Lama honorary citizenship, reported AP.

His Holiness on accepting the award said, “I receive this distinction as a human being to defend human values, peace and non-violence”.

Poland capital, Warsaw city council also voted to confer His Holiness the Dalai Lama honourary citizen, reported AFP on 28 May.
